Competitions

Photographic competitions are held on the 1st Wednesday of the month for all levels of expertise. At each competition you can submit photographs in "Open" and/or "Set" subject (the topic for the Set subject is indicated on the program). Evaluation of the photographs is usually by a qualified judge from the Federation of Camera Clubs (NSW) Inc. ("FCC").

Each individual may submit up to a maximum of four (4) images (can be a mix of Open and/or Set Subjects) in any or all of the following categories:

    Small Prints (maximum size 6" x 4")
    Colour Prints (maximum size 20" x 16")
    Mono / Black & White Prints (maximum size 20" x 16")
    35mm Slide Film

Awards and points are given at each competition and accumulated throughout the year to find the clubs best photographers. The following awards are presented and earn points as indicated below:

Merit
Acceptance
3 points
2 points
1 point
* with an additional point awarded for Set Subjects

Competition Entry forms must be completed for all entries submitted in each competition and can be obtained at Club meetings or download here. All competition entries must be mounted, clean and in good condition. A small entry fee of $2.00 per category is charged to assist the club in obtaining judges from outside the club.

At the end of the year, we hold the Print and Slide of the Year (PASOTY) where the Photographer of the Year is announced. Also on this evening, awards and prizes are given to the highest point scorers in each of the four categories which have been accumulated throughout the years competitions. In addition, a separate competition is held on this night, with eligible entries only coming from images that have received either an Honour or Merit throughout the year bringing us an exciting night to see the best of the best photographs with awards and prizes are given to the Winners in each of the four categories as nominated by the Guest Judge.
